Our History

Custom Brick Company was founded in 1961 by D.T. Fisher, who at that time had been in the brick business for 12 years already —, both manufacturing and sales. He felt a brick distributorship would serve the local (Raleigh, NC) needs well, by offering many different styles of brick to the consumer, instead of the customer having to go around to five or six different companies to see what each had to offer.

The initial lines of brick carried were Sanford Brick, Chatham Brick, Nash Brick, Boren Clay Products, Old Virginia Brick, and Taylor Clay Products. While many of the names have changed, we still carry these same lines, plus, of course, many, many others. In fact, we offer many products now that aren’t even brick!

The company has always been both commercial/architectural and residential, as both markets are of paramount importance. Our list of jobs furnished would be incredible, at this point, because it would be 55 years’ worth of orders, both large and small, ranging from shopping centers to office buildings, schools to hospitals, homes and condominiums to apartments, small homes to large homes, additions to both the Governor’s Mansion and Tryon Palace, sound barriers on highways to Elizabethan garden paving!

Our showroom, yard, and offices are at 1833 Capital Blvd, just a mile inside the Beltline on the right. This is a new 15,000 sq.ft. facility, offering a spacious showroom, warehouse products in inventory, and a yard with inventory (mortar, block, fireplaces, cast stone, natural stone, lintels, etc.).

Our company is locally-owned and operated, with Tom Fisher, D.T. Fisher’s son, having come into the business in 1970—, and buying the company from his father in 1980. (D.T. Fisher died in August, 1984.) The company has always strived to “be the best”, and represent its suppliers well along with serving its customers well. We want to work the hardest to do the best job, all around! Honesty, integrity, sincerity, friendliness —; these are our tenets. We provide excellent products with excellent service, and appreciate the opportunity to do so.
